Well Formed, Intimately known

Even with over seven billion people living on this planet, the development of a child from conception to birth still astounds me. God’s creative ability is shown in the way a human baby transforms from an egg to a fully mature baby in just nine months! That same kind of wonder can be seen in the expression of the Psalmist as he wrote:

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”

Psalm 139:13-14

Whenever I hold a newborn in my hands, I study their tiny fingers and toes and marvel at how every piece of them is formed together so perfectly. I cannot even comprehend how anyone could make the claim that we are all just some cosmic accident. What astounds me more, though, is that God knows each of us so intimately that even the hairs on our head are numbered! The best part of that is the God continues to work on us to improve us until the moment we are reunited with Him.

Sometimes you might feel like your life is a mess, that nothing seems to work right, and you face hardships at every turn. Within those challenges, there is promise of hope as Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

I like to think of life’s challenges as minor remodel projects of my character and spirit that will eventually make me who God wants me to be. As we focus the next few weeks on transformation, remember this, God is still working on you.
